美しい山

いくつかの打合せがあり、樽前山の麓を訪ねました。
標高こそ1041mとさほど高くはありませんが、山頂に高さ120m程の溶岩ドームを冠した山容が印象的で、裾野の広がり方がとてもエレガントな美しい山です。

しかしこの樽前山、エレガントさとは裏腹に、実は気象庁が24時間体制で監視・観測を行っている結構アクティブな活火山なのです。写真では分かりづらいのですが、大きな山頂火口内では溶岩ドームを中心に現在も噴気・地熱が確認できます。このドームは1909年の噴火で生成されたそうですが、 19世紀以降だけでも70回以上の噴火記録が残る、なかなか活動的で危険な？山なのです。

美しさと危険さが同居する魅力…
実は人間や建築にも言えることなのかも…？？

I went to the foot of Mt. Tarumae to make arrangements with some clients. That volcano is very elegant and beautiful. However, the mountain may have a dangerous atmosphere because this active volcano did the eruption more than 70 times after the 19th century ! 
 When peril lives together with beauty, certain  fascination is born there. This thought may be common to not only the mountain but also a human being and the architecture...??
