Kaku Place Hotel FURANO（Condominium）

富良野をとり囲む雄大な山々の中に打ち込まれた、人々の営みを示すシンプルな、しかし力強く存在感を放つ石標。それが立方体を基調とした美しさと機能性を併せ持つKakuPlaceHotelである。
このコンドミニアム型ホテルは、構造体でもあるコンクリートを主な仕上げとしながら、北海道の歴史や産業に関係深いレンガと木材を要所に使用し、強さと優しさを併せた表情を持つ。内部空間にも粗い表情を持つタイルや厚みのある木材が散りばめられ、機能的で洗練された居室内においても周辺の火山や深い森の存在を思い起こさせる。バーチカルに分割された窓は、水平方向に延びる山々の稜線とコントラストを成し、眼前に広がる風景を一層美しく見せる。

Conceptualized as a stone marker in the majestic mountains surrounding Furano, Kaku Place exudes a simple yet strong presence. Based on a cubical structure, its exterior is articulated to reflect the individual dwelling units, showcasing activity both internally and externally.

Designed and constructed mainly with concrete, this building also uses brick and wood, materials with a long history of manufacture and use in Hokkaido. They are brought together at important junctions of the building to highlight both strength and gentleness. Comfortable and refined interior spaces provide excellent functionality and feature tiles with rough surfaces and solid wood reminiscent of the existence of surrounding volcanoes and deep forests. Large vertical windows with high performance glass contrast with surrounding mountain ridges and showcase views of the beautiful, dynamic and ever-changing landscape of Furano.
